Description

Simple Butter Rice Pilaf is a fluffy, buttery side dish made with long-grain rice, sautéed onion, and savory broth. This easy stovetop recipe delivers comforting flavor with minimal ingredients and pairs beautifully with chicken, vegetables, or fish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear and drain well.
  2. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
  4. Add rice and toast for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Pour in broth, salt, and pepper and bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. Turn off heat and let rice rest covered for 10 minutes.
  8. Fluff gently with a fork, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Rinse rice thoroughly for fluffy texture. Do not stir while simmering. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheat with a splash of water to restore moisture.
