Description
This lean, protein-packed turkey meatloaf is a wholesome and savory alternative to traditional beef versions. By combining ground turkey with hydrated breadcrumbs, sautéed aromatic vegetables, and a tangy tomato-molasses glaze, this recipe ensures a moist and tender texture every time. It is the perfect nutritious main dish for a busy weeknight family dinner, offering deep, rich flavors without excessive fat.
Ingredients
2 lbs ground turkey (93% lean)
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or whole wheat)
1/2 cup whole milk
1 medium onion, finely diced
2 large eggs, beaten
1/2 cup tomato sauce (salt-free)
1 tbsp molasses
2 tsp dried thyme, oregano, and garlic powder blend
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 stalk celery, finely diced
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Sauté the diced onions, celery, and garlic in a pan until translucent and fragrant.
In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk, allowing them to hydrate for five minutes.
Add the ground turkey, beaten eggs, sautéed vegetables, and spices to the bowl.
Mix the ingredients gently by hand until just combined, taking care not to overwork the meat.
Transfer the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or loaf pan and shape into a uniform loaf.
Whisk the tomato sauce with the molasses to create the glaze.
Brush the glaze over the top of the loaf.
Bake for 50 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Ensure you do not overmix the turkey, as it can become tough. Let the loaf rest after baking to keep the juices inside for a moist slice.
