Description

A classic British dessert featuring fresh strawberries and a buttery oat crumble topping. This rustic baked treat highlights the natural sweetness of summer berries and pairs perfectly with ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients

Strawberries, 7 cups (hulled and sliced)
Sugar, 1 cup (200g)
Flour, 1/2 cup (60g)
Old-fashioned oats, 1 1/2 cups
Unsalted butter, 1/2 cup (113g, cold)
Cinnamon, 1 tsp

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Toss strawberries with 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Let sit for 10-15 minutes
Combine flour, oats, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, and cinnamon in a separate bowl
Cut cold butter into mixture until crumbly; add 1 tbsp water if needed
Transfer fruit to a 9-inch baking dish. Top with crumble mixture
Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and fruit is bubbling
Cool 10 minutes before serving

Notes

Use 50% frozen strawberries if needed
Add thinly sliced tart apples to balance sweetness
Chill crumble topping 30 minutes for better texture
Serve with vegan ice cream or whipped cream
