Description

Indulge in these classic bakery-style chocolate chip cookies, designed for a tender, buttery center and a perfect chewy texture. By utilizing a high ratio of brown sugar to white sugar and slightly melted butter, this recipe ensures each cookie remains irresistibly moist for days. These cookies are easy to prepare and feature a rich molasses depth that pairs beautifully with premium semi-sweet chocolate chips, making them the ultimate treat for any sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
1 large egg + 1 large egg yolk, room temperature
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl until fully combined.
Combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a separate large mixing bowl.
Beat the egg, extra egg yolk, and vanilla extract into the sugar mixture until smooth.
Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula until just a few streaks of flour remain.
Add the chocolate chips to the dough and stir until evenly distributed.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spaced two inches apart.
Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers still look soft.
Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Spoon and level the flour to ensure you do not pack it, which would result in dry cookies. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For the best results, use high-quality couverture chocolate chips.
