Ingredients
6 cups apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
0.5 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
0.75 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Peel, core, and slice the apples into uniform half-inch thick pieces.
Combine the apple slices with granulated sugar and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
Toss the mixture thoroughly until every slice is coated evenly.
Transfer the prepared fruit into a greased nine-by-nine baking dish.
Mix the oats, flour, and brown sugar in a separate bowl until combined.
Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients.
Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter until coarse crumbs form.
Spread the crumble mixture evenly over the top of the apples.
Bake for 45 minutes until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
Notes
Ensure the butter is very cold when cutting it into the dry ingredients to achieve the perfect crisp texture. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or a drizzle of caramel.
