Description
A hearty, flavor-packed chili made with lean ground beef, rich tomatoes, and aromatic spices. Serve as a topping for grilled hot dogs or enjoy it as a standalone meal for game days or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
Extra Lean Ground Beef, 1 lb (450g)
Onion, Diced, 1 cup (100g)
Garlic, Minced, 2 cloves
Green Bell Pepper, Diced, 1/2 cup
Tomato Paste, 1 tbsp
Canned Crushed Tomatoes, 1 can (28 oz / 794g)
Chili Powder, 2 tbsp
Ground Cumin, 1 tsp
Brown Sugar, 1 tbsp
Dried Oregano, 1 tsp (optional)
Black Beans, Canned and Drained, 1/2 cup (125g)
Salt, to taste
Olive Oil
Cayenne Pepper, to taste
Bay Leaf, 1
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until softened, 5 minutes.
Stir in garlic, green bell pepper, and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned and crumbly.
Add tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, brown sugar, oregano, and salt. Stir well to coat.
Pour in drained canned tomatoes and black beans. Add bay leaf and bay salt.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Adjust seasonings with additional cayenne pepper and salt if desired.
Notes
Use plant-based crumbles for a meatless option
Simmer longer for thicker consistency
Canned tomatoes of low-sodium variety preferred
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days
