Description

Honey Tea Cake is a soft, moist, and gently sweet loaf cake made with rich honey, butter, and warm vanilla. Perfect for afternoon tea, coffee breaks, or simple homemade desserts, this easy cake delivers delicate floral sweetness and a tender crumb. It’s a comforting, elegant treat made with simple pantry ingredients and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (170g) honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • Optional: sliced almonds for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan, lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add honey and mix until smooth.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, mixing gently until just combined.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top if desired.
  10. Bake for 45–55 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use high-quality honey for the best flavor. Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake tender. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. The flavor deepens beautifully the next day. You can brush warm honey on top after baking for extra shine and moisture.
