Description
A tender, smoky-sweet chicken wing dish cooked in a slow cooker. The honey and BBQ sauce create a perfect balance of flavors with no extra effort. Ideal for no-fuss cooking on busy weeknights or game days.
Ingredients
4 lbs unseasoned chicken wings (trim excess fat before cooking)
1 cup BBQ sauce (use store-bought or homemade; apple-based sauce adds fruitiness)
1/4 cup honey (replace with maple syrup for deeper sweetness)
4 cloves minced garlic (optional for lower garlic intake)
1/4 cup ketchup (use tomato-based for tang; tomato paste reduces tartness)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (provide umami; substitute with soy sauce if preferred)
Instructions
Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels to ensure even browning
Place wings in a slow cooker
In a small bowl, mix honey, BBQ sauce, ketchup, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika (1 tsp), and onion powder (1 tsp)
Pour the sauce over the chicken wings in the slow cooker
Cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until tender
Stir halfway through cooking to coat wings evenly
Let the wings rest for 10 minutes before serving to retain juices
Serve with optional toppings like green onions or sesame seeds
Notes
For halal compliance, ensure BBQ sauce is vegetarian-friendly and lacks alcohol derivatives (check Worcestershire sauce label or substitute with soy sauce). Trim fat for healthier results. Adjust paprika and onion powder for spice/spice preference. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
