It is a reliable, crowd-pleasing treat that delivers a golden-brown finish and a syrupy, flavorful filling every single time, making it the perfect end to any summer meal.
Ingredients
6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup of sugar and the cinnamon until well coated.
Transfer the peach mixture into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, and baking powder.
Stir in the milk until just combined, then fold in the melted butter.
Pour the batter evenly over the peaches.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
Notes
Ensure your baking powder is fresh for the best rise in the crust. You can use frozen peach slices if fresh are out of season, just ensure they are thawed and drained slightly. Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
