  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup honey (for syrup)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking pan.
  2. Whisk eggs and sugar until pale and slightly fluffy.
  3. Add honey, milk, oil, and vanilla, then mix until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture gently.
  6. Add orange zest and mix lightly.

  9. Heat honey, water, and lemon juice to make syrup.

Use high-quality honey for the richest flavor. You can replace orange zest with lemon zest for a brighter taste. Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness. Warm slightly before serving for best texture.
