- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup (100 g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese

- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line baking sheet.
- Boil water, butter, and salt in saucepan.
- Add flour and stir until smooth dough forms.
- Cool slightly and add eggs one at a time.
- Mix in Parmesan and spices.
- Spoon small mounds onto baking sheet.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and puffed.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor. Avoid opening oven during baking. Reheat in oven for crisp texture. Freeze baked gougères up to 1 month.
