Description

These Gluten-Free Gougères are light, airy cheese puffs made with gluten-free flour, eggs, butter, and Gruyère cheese. Crisp on the outside and soft inside, they are perfect as a savory appetizer or elegant brunch addition.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour blend
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Bring water, milk, butter, and salt to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in gluten-free flour.
  4. Return to heat and stir 1–2 minutes to dry dough.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  6. Fold in grated cheese and seasoning.
  7. Pipe small rounds onto baking sheet.
  8. Bake 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden.

Notes

Use a gluten-free flour blend with xanthan gum for best texture. Do not open the oven during baking. Serve warm for best flavor. Freeze baked gougères for up to 1 month.
