Description

This Garlic Focaccia Bread is soft, fluffy, and infused with olive oil and fresh garlic. Baked until golden and crisp on the outside, this Mediterranean-style bread is perfect for soups, salads, sandwiches, or dipping.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy, about 5–10 minutes.
  2. Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix to form dough.
  3. Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Transfer dough to well-oiled baking pan and stretch gently. Rest 20–30 minutes.
  6. Press deep dimples into dough. Mix garlic with olive oil and drizzle on top. Sprinkle herbs and sea salt.
  7. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use high-quality olive oil for best flavor. Do not rush the rising time. Store at room temperature for 2 days or freeze sliced for up to 2 months.
