Description
This Easy Rice Pilaf recipe delivers fluffy, buttery rice infused with sautéed onion, garlic, and rich broth. It’s a simple Mediterranean side dish that pairs beautifully with chicken, fish, or vegetables and comes together in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain well.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until soft.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Stir in the drained rice and toast for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden.
- Pour in the chicken broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a gentle boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Remove from heat, let rest for 5–10 minutes, then fluff with a fork and garnish with parsley.
Notes
Rinsing the rice prevents stickiness. Do not stir while simmering to keep grains separate. Substitute vegetable broth for a vegetarian version. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
