Description

This Easy Rice Pilaf recipe delivers fluffy, buttery rice infused with sautéed onion, garlic, and rich broth. It’s a simple Mediterranean side dish that pairs beautifully with chicken, fish, or vegetables and comes together in just 30 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain well.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until soft.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in the drained rice and toast for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. Remove from heat, let rest for 5–10 minutes, then fluff with a fork and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Rinsing the rice prevents stickiness. Do not stir while simmering to keep grains separate. Substitute vegetable broth for a vegetarian version. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
