Description

Experience the ultimate comfort food with this timeless American meatloaf recipe. By combining lean ground beef with a mixture of hydrated breadcrumbs, aromatics, and a signature tangy tomato glaze, this recipe ensures a perfectly moist, tender, and sliceable loaf every time. Perfect for a family dinner, this foundational dish is designed to deliver professional results with minimal effort, culminating in a dish that is as flavorful as it is satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

2 lbs Ground Beef (85/15)
1 cup Plain panko or dry breadcrumbs
1/2 cup Whole milk
1 medium Onion, finely diced
3 cloves Garlic, minced
2 large Eggs, room temperature
3/4 cup Tomato Ketchup, divided
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (alcohol-free)
1 tbsp Dried parsley

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine the breadcrumbs and milk in a small bowl and let hydrate for five minutes.
Sauté the onions and garlic in a skillet until translucent, then let cool slightly.
In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, hydrated breadcrumbs, cooked vegetables, eggs, half the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and parsley until well combined.
Form the mixture into a uniform loaf shape on a rimmed baking sheet.
Whisk the remaining ketchup with a dash of Worcestershire sauce to create a glaze.
Brush the glaze evenly over the top of the loaf.
Bake for 60 minutes.
Allow the meatloaf to rest for 15 minutes before slicing to ensure the juices redistribute.

Notes

Ensure the onions and garlic are cooled before mixing to avoid cooking the eggs prematurely. Resting the loaf is critical for maintaining structure and moisture during serving.
