Description

Classic French Gougères are light and airy cheese puffs made from traditional choux pastry and Gruyère cheese. These elegant appetizers are crisp outside, soft inside, and perfect for parties or gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Boil water, milk, butter, and salt.
  2. Add flour and stir until dough forms.
  3. Cook 1–2 minutes to dry dough.
  4. Cool slightly and add eggs one at a time.
  5. Stir in cheese and seasoning.
  6. Pipe onto baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 200°C for 20–25 minutes until golden.

Notes

Use room-temperature eggs. Do not open oven during baking. Reheat at 170°C for crisp texture.
