Description

Classic Focaccia Bread is soft, airy, and rich with olive oil and rosemary. This authentic Mediterranean-style bread features a golden crust, fluffy interior, and deep dimples filled with flavor.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary
  • Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to flour and mix into sticky dough.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.
  6. Stretch dough into an oiled baking pan and let rise again 30–45 minutes.
  7. Dimple dough deeply, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle rosemary and flaky salt.
  8. Bake at 220°C (425°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Use high-quality olive oil for best flavor. Allow full rising time for airy texture. Store at room temperature up to 2 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
