Ingredients
6 large Granny Smith apples
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Peel, core, and slice the apples into uniform half-inch thick pieces.
In a large bowl, toss apple slices with granulated sugar and one teaspoon of cinnamon.
Spread the apple mixture evenly into a lightly greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, and remaining teaspoon of cinnamon.
Cut the cold butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 45 minutes until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
Notes
Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to three days. For a gluten-free version, replace all-purpose flour with a high-quality gluten-free flour blend or almond flour.
