Description

These delicious, thick, and chewy chocolate chip cookie bars offer the perfect solution for dessert lovers who want the classic bakery-style taste without the effort of rolling individual dough balls. Featuring a rich, buttery base sweetened with brown sugar and loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips, these bars deliver a soft center with perfectly crispy edges every single time. They are incredibly easy to slice, making them an ideal treat for gatherings, parties, or a simple weekday pick-me-up that stays fresh for days.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1.5 cups brown sugar, packed
0.5 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2.5 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp baking soda
0.5 tsp salt
2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl and beat until fully incorporated and creamy.
Fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt gently using a silicone spatula until no dry streaks remain.
Stir in 1.5 cups of the chocolate chips, reserving the remaining half cup for topping.
Spread the thick batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of chocolate chips over the top of the batter.
Bake for 25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 16 uniform squares.

Notes

Store at room temperature in an airtight container to keep the bars soft for several days. Use high-quality chocolate for a deeper flavor profile. Ensure the butter is only warm, not hot, when mixing to avoid scrambling the eggs.
