Description
Juicy, flavorful homemade burgers made with high-quality ground beef, simple seasoning, and fresh toppings. Perfectly grilled with a charred exterior and a savory, moist center for unbeatable backyard or family dinner results.
Ingredients
450 g (1 lb) ground beef (80% lean / 20% fat)
1 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp black pepper (plus more for grilling)
4 large / 6 small hamburger buns (brioche, whole wheat, or sesame seed)
4 cheddar cheese slices (or Swiss, gouda, or American)
2 tbsp garlic butter (1 tbsp butter + 1 clove minced garlic)
1 large / 1 small onion (raw or caramelized)
Instructions
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt and pepper until just combined.
Divide into 4 large or 6 small patties, pressing each into a slight dome shape.
Place patties on the grill. Cook 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or adjust to preference.
During the last 2 minutes of cooking, place a cheese slice on each patty to melt.
Meanwhile, spread garlic butter under the tops of the buns and grill cut-side down until toasted.
Serve patties on buns with toppings (e.g., sliced onion, lettuce, tomato).
Notes
Use chuck roast if grinding your own beef for optimal flavor.
For extra richness, caramelize onions before adding to patties.
Lettuce-wrapped burgers are a great low-carb option.
Let resting patties sit 5 minutes before serving to retain juices.
