Description

Experience the ultimate autumn dessert with this classic apple crisp. Featuring tender, spiced Granny Smith apples topped with a crunchy, buttery oat and pecan crumble, this comforting dish offers the perfect balance of sweet and earthy flavors. It is a foolproof recipe that delivers a satisfying contrast in textures, making it an ideal treat for family gatherings or cozy evenings at home.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Peel, core, and slice the apples into uniform wedges.
Toss the apple slices with one tablespoon of granulated sugar and one teaspoon of cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish in an even layer.
In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and remaining cinnamon.
Cut the cold butter into the dry mixture using a pastry cutter or fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Fold in the chopped pecans.
Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apple layer.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling.

Notes

Toasted pecans are recommended for a deeper flavor and longer-lasting crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
