Description

Ingredients

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 250 g (1/2 lb) ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 800 g crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups warm milk
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan
  • 12 lasagna sheets
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic.
  2. Add beef and pork, cook until browned.
  3. Add tomatoes, paste, and seasonings. Simmer 30–40 minutes.
  4. Melt butter, whisk in flour, add warm milk to make béchamel.
  5. Layer meat sauce, pasta sheets, béchamel, and cheese.
  6. Repeat layers and finish with cheese on top.
  7. Bake covered at 180°C for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake uncovered 15–20 minutes until golden.
  9. Rest 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Simmer sauce slowly for best flavor. Allow lasagna to rest before slicing. Store in refrigerator up to 4 days or freeze before baking for up to 2 months.
