Description

Homemade Chicken Parmesan is a crispy, golden breaded chicken breast topped with rich marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Pound chicken to even thickness and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Coat chicken in flour, dip in egg mixture, then press into breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Heat olive oil in skillet and fry chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
  5. Transfer to baking dish and spoon marinara sauce over each piece.
  6. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake 15–20 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.
  8. Rest 5 minutes, garnish with basil, and serve.

Notes

Pound chicken evenly for juicy results. Do not over-sauce to keep crust crispy. Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in oven for best texture.
