- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a baking dish.
- Pound chicken to even thickness and season with salt and pepper.
- Coat chicken in flour, dip in egg mixture, then press into breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat olive oil in skillet and fry chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
- Transfer to baking dish and spoon marinara sauce over each piece.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake 15–20 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.
- Rest 5 minutes, garnish with basil, and serve.
Notes
Pound chicken evenly for juicy results. Do not over-sauce to keep crust crispy. Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in oven for best texture.
