- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 can (400 g) diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 can (400 g) kidney beans, drained
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot and sauté onion until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in bell pepper and tomato paste.
- Add spices and toast briefly.
- Pour in diced tomatoes and beef broth.
- Add kidney beans and stir well.
- Simmer uncovered for 30–40 minutes. Adjust seasoning and serve.
Notes
For extra heat, add cayenne pepper. This chili tastes even better the next day. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
