Description

Classic Chicken Parmesan features crispy breaded chicken breasts topped with rich marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. This comforting Italian-American favorite is perfect for family dinners and special occasions, delivering restaurant-quality flavor at home.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (topping)
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pound chicken breasts to 1/2 inch thickness and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up three bowls: flour, beaten eggs with milk, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan and herbs.
  3. Dredge chicken in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat in breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Heat olive oil in skillet and fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden.
  5. Transfer to baking dish and top with marinara sauce and cheeses.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, let breaded chicken rest 10 minutes before frying. Store leftovers in refrigerator up to 3 days and reheat in oven to maintain texture. Serve over pasta or with a fresh green salad.
