- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil (optional)
- 250 g spaghetti (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Pound the chicken breasts to even thickness and season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Set up three bowls with flour, whisked eggs and milk, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan.
- Dredge chicken in flour, dip in egg mixture, and coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and fry chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Spread marinara sauce in a baking dish and place chicken on top.
- Spoon sauce over each piece and sprinkle with mozzarella.
- Bake 15–20 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.
- Garnish with basil and serve warm.
Notes
For extra crispiness, avoid covering the chicken completely with sauce. Use freshly grated mozzarella for better melting. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven to maintain texture.
