Description

This Best French Toast Recipe uses thick brioche bread dipped in a rich custard of eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon, then cooked in butter until golden and fluffy. Perfect for a comforting breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 thick slices brioche or challah bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter for cooking

Instructions

  1. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a wide bowl.
  2. Dip each bread slice into the mixture for 20–30 seconds per side.
  3. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook soaked bread slices for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for best texture. Cook over medium heat to prevent burning. Store leftovers refrigerated up to 2 days or freeze up to 2 months.
